We were headed to Dolores Hidalgo to spend the night in a hotel so Jamie could watch yesterday’s stage of the tour (just can’t stay away from that wonderful town) but I was too sick to go. Got the same tummy thing as the other kids. Pike is just about 100% and while Sissy and Ellen are hungry and eating (up a storm) they still have the runs (though nowhere near as often as before). Lack of sleep must have impacted my immune system and I’ve been down for the past few days.
We still hope to go to Dolores so Jamie can catch more tour stages but we saw a good recap of yesterdays stage (no TV in Mexico went NEAR the Tour as the Copa del Oro was playing at the same time – quarterfinals of Mexico vs. Columbia). Pike was quite confused and thought Mexico was playing BRITISH Columbia. Gotta get a globe…
Jamie was so pissed about missing the Tour that he cheered quite loudly for Columbia and his fevor must have turned the tide, because Columbia made a golassal goal – really impressionante! Mexico is quite sad today. Hurricane Emily seems to have touched the Yucatan penninsula lightly as this morning’s news showed very little damage and the commentator (and Yucatan governador) were surprised at the lack of damage. It is currently over the penninsula, so we’ll see what develops.
We might be spending tonight in Dolores and Chrissy, I’ll get you the hotel phone number.
Love to all. We’re recuperating.

Sorry to hear about your illness(es)!!!!! I really do miss reading your posts and wonder how you guys are doing when you don’t get posts online!
I am addicted to your journal!!!
John
Oh man, 3 down at once, and then you! I am so glad to hear that the kids are doing better now.
We have the some kind of wicked stomach virus here, and Quinn (4) has it bad. 5 days of watery poop, and no end in sight! I have it, as does Mia and my 10yo. Blek!
LOL about Jamie and the tour. We are totally obsessed with it here too. We get up early, make our cappucinos, then settle in to watch it. I am really excited for Rasmussen. I am a Rasmussen, and my family came from Denmark, so I feel a kinship to him. He is so strong right now. I know he will not do as well in the time trials, but you never know.
Hey guys, I was happy to find you on the web. I love your travel log. I miss you Jamie and I am jealous of your travels. Take care-Alex.
P.S. One more week and the 7 year Lancathon will finally be over!
Hey, so glad to finally get the satellite up and see you all are okay. All we have to worry about here in the U.P. is the freakin’ record breaking heat wave – as a hurricane-fanatic, I’ve been watching Emily, whenever we had connectivity, that is. Actually had to listen to the radio yesterday for the SC announcement, since we couldn’t find a hole in the dense canopy here.
I think of you all often, as much of our lives and goals seem to parallel, and am intrigued by the fact that you all can’t make it out of Mexico, and we’re now stuck in Michigan, of all places. But we took the kids kayaking yesterday and today, and were blessed with not one, but three very close encounters with bald eagles. If we could get rid of the %#$& mosquitos, life would be near perfect.
Are you guys ever heading north of the border, or will we only see you when we head south in January/February?
Take care, and we hope you all feel 100% soon. Ironically, we all had some stomach bug over the past few days, but are all tip top at this point, and heading into the Porkies (Porcupine Mountains) tomorrow.
I’m so glad to read that ya’ll are starting to mend! *BIG HUGS!*
