We woke this morning, surrounded by cows. Ellen LOVES cows and they were right at the trailer; sauntering around it, the pond and the meadow.
It is simply glorious here. Hard to breathe at times, but there’s always a tradeoff. We’re camped in a very high meadow close to a mountain pond. This morning, after my walk, Jamie and I sat on a hill; the pond to our back, the meadow stretching out from our feet and a ridge
(we’re at the summit, so it must be the highest point here) rising before us. We sat for hours. We watched hawks and eagles and think we found an eagle family. We watched cows grazing. We watched a 
family of ducks on the pond. We watched the clouds move across the sky and their shadows pass over the ground. We watched the wind in the trees and the rippling grasses. We talked and sipped coffee and sat in the silence simply awed. The kids stayed in the trailer the entire time; the girls playing with horses and the boys with Pike’s legos. This afternoon, we headed to Conejos Valley and marvelled at the beautiful river and valley. The kids were completely oblivious, but Jamie and I loved the views.
We just figured out the date and that Sissy has a birthday on Thursday. She is overjoyed but now wants to camp near a town; a big town that has a store. I guess it’s been a while.
