Shhhhh… That particular company checks to see if you’re in any way shape or form motivating people towards the sidebar (I’m carefully chosing my words so as not to set off keywords.) They’ve been known to shut people down, particularly just before payout for what they deem “violations”.
Another possible revenue stream would be BlogAds - those of us with travel blogs could form an “ad network” where an advertiser would pay to have their travel or family-based ads appear on either the whole network, or specific blogs within the network. (See “Advertise Liberally” at http://www.blogads.com/advertise/liberal_blog_advertising_network/order for example.)
