Yogi Bear Picnic

Back to Yoga; I emmersed myself into educating myself and read Mysore blogs, picked up post video clips and even found a clip of a jump through. I got about 10 minutes of bumping around yesterday, trying to get enough time by myself to feel comfortable letting the kids/Jamie see me bumbling through a pose and between requests for this and that never made it. I did, however, get warm, just from trying to figure out Sun Salutations. I found that to be promising.

This morning I managed to get just enough time alone to memorize Sun Saluatation A when Pike joined me to “help” me figure out B. Sissy then joined and while I didn’t manage to focus inward, like all the yogis (male) and yoginis (female) do, I had a good time with the kids. I was also dripping sweat. I spent about 40 mintues trying to get them down and I like the flow from one pose to another (though I’m not flowing yet) so I think Ashtanga is a good fit. Funny, last night, I had those poses going through my mind like a train. I took a shower afterwards and was already sore. My arm muscles were really rubbery. I can’t imagine how sore I’ll be tomorrow; I’ve never been sore immediately after “working out” so this should be interesting.

We were shooting to leave Aunty Chris’s house by 1 or 2pm but one thing after another kept us until just before the mommies picked kids up from school (and parked up and down the block of my sister’s house). I tried to get out early, but found it MUCH harder going out than going in. I knew I had some incredible luck getting into her driveway and was worried I’d pay on the way out. I did. I finally got the trailer back into the yard and waited for all the kids/parents to leave as it became desperately clear that I was not getting out of the driveway easily. When everyone had left, and cleared the street, I took about 30 mintues getting the damn trailer out of the driveway. Chrissy’s fence is wide enough (but with about a foot or so of space on each side of the fence opening) and the street was just narrow enough to make it tricky.

We managed to leave just in time for Friday rush hour traffic so we stopped in Pleasanton (I guess) for dinner from a grocery store while we waited out the traffic and let the kids get some steam out. I was happy to find organic pears and apples for NINETY NINE cents a pound! Needless to say, we’re stacked with much produce. We managed to stop some 27 times more finally getting to Harris Ranch, where Mom and Dad always boondock, by a little after 10pm. It was only 170 miles but it took us 7 hours (with very many stops). I’m hoping tomorrow that everyone will be back in the swing of travelling and we can put some miles down. We’re taking Highway 5 and there is no scenery, no town; nothing to stimulate the brain.

We were amazed to find the parking lot of Harris Ranch FULL of boondockers. There must be four Class A’s here and one is pulling a Class B!! There is a bumper sticker on the RV/toad (a toad is a vehicle that an RV pulls) that says, “Be Patient; I’m pushing a REALLY BIG motorhome!”.

Tomorrow we head from Hot Springs and I’m going to give Yoga another try.
