It frightens me

That title could refer to any number of things (the kids included) but this morning, a very bright object appeared in the sky and the sky is a very mysterious colour. I had the kids look it up on the internet and they report that The Internet says the colour is “blue”. Thanks, Internet. Honestly, it pains their eyes to look at the thing (what, you think *I’d* do it?) – they say it is too bright to look at. We’re not sure what the thing is but it is mysterious and frightening and compelling and attractive all at the same time. For some reason, when this bright object appeared, the wet that has covered our world for the past eon went away. It is very disconcerting and we’re simply going to stay inside until the grey mist and heavy rain comes back and pretend that all is well.

Chrissy and I did yogurt (yoga) this morning which, in and of itself, was an accomplishment of incredible magnitude. She was up until 4am and I was only up until 2am but over the past few nights 4am and 6am and 3am have been “normal” bedtimes with congested Becky, feverish Ellen, feverish Becky and feverish Jesse. Jesse has completely recuperated, Ellen might have broken her fever this morning and Becky is sleeping now. Ellen is playing “Pajama Sam” and resting her head on the table. So the very fact that we both faced our mats (I actually can’t get used to a mat and don’t use one) this morning was quite an accomplishment. For the second morning we kept our breath through Sun Salutation B (course we were mouth breathing in down dog). It WASN’T a fluke yesterday! Yesterday we had decided to continue to Navasana and take our time through the Maris before bailing to the finishing poses but I was so wiped this morning I skipped many of the vinnies (we’d get SO laughed out of a class with the bastardization we do of the Sanskrit names) and was ready to skip to the end after almost each and every pose, so we did a half-hearted attempt at the Mari’s this is A of A-D (they really hurt my back) and read a lot and wondered about how a lot and talked with Sissy (who stayed for most of the practice) and avoided Ellen who liked to sit under me while I rested my feet on a chair in headstand and have a half-assed attempt at the rest. Chrissy can do 25 breaths in headstand but I can only do 15. She can also bind in almost all the Mari’s. She’s amazing.

So, that’s about it from here; sick kids and a strange whiteness in the sky but Yoga is coming along. I’m hoping to do a lot of cooking today; stinky chicken, chicken and turkey soup, salmon soup, lasagne (to freeze) and something else. Probably tamales. Another something else, but my brain left me. Probably the fault of that weird light in the sky.

Good for you on the yogurt! I have never tried it, but would like to one day.

All the talk about food at the end of your post had me hungry, then I saw one of your Google ads said “Lose 9 lbs every 11 days”. I am sure it is a sign. I need to get back on my bike. Ugh.

That weird thing in the sky can burn you. Wear sunscreen and be very afraid. ;*)
