Our recently acquired IMB Thinkpad T30 has died. I hope it doesn’t have the flu. Connecting an external monitor brings nothing up, removing the battery does not good, booting off CD no good; I’m thinking it is the motherboard as it actually powers up. No beeps on power up. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Motherboards on Ebay are $350, so if it is the Internet’s concensus that the culprit is the motherboard, I think we’ll get a new one. Laptop. Not mubberbored. Not to be left out, the TV won’t power up either. Could it be a conspiracy????

Sounds like it is starting to pour on you guys!!!! I have no idea about your tech problem……I, for one, am technologically challenged….hahaa! I am just glad that you are able to post now and then. How are the kids?????? Getting any better??? Keep us posted on them……and how is your dad getting along???? As I said…when it rains it pours!!!
Keep in touch!

Hi, Kitty and Jamie,
Are you talking about running the thinkpad on battery only? If you are using AC, have you tried checking the outlet with something else – like a lamp? You could test the outlet for the TV with a lamp, too.
What about the circuit breakers – have you checked them?
I know we recently had some thunderstorms in the Bay area. Do you have surge protection in case a transformer went out in the neighborhood?
I hate to see someone spend any money without checking the simple stuff first.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot – is the laptop set up for sleep mode? I have one of those laptops from work and I had a hard time with it until I figured out that the sleep mode was shutting the dratted thing off.
It’s probably the funky Niles electricity gumming everything up. Probably spiders. Whaddaya expect?!?! Its a free hookup! Really, sorry to hear about your electronics problems. Hope you are enjoying mom’s soup as much as we are. Love, C
Sorry about the flu, I’m just getting over a touch of it myself. This must be a bad bug because I ‘never’ get sick.
Don’t know much about IBM but I believe they have very good tech support. Completely dead?? That is rare. Maybe just a poor connection inside. Maybe the motherboard. Many problems are often traced to bad RAM. Sure would be nice if it was as easy as replacing the RAM….
Good luck;)
