Today is the feast day of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Laval, a rancho close by. Not sure about the rest of the country, but we’ve gotten to know many of the kids and a few of the parents that live there and had planned to go for the day. Fortunately (and not), Jamie et. al. should be arriving today, so we’ll stay close to home. I doubt the kids would even allow me to THINK about leaving, knowing Dad and Sissy are due today.
CompUSA might be sending me my laptop via FedEx. Hard to believe, but they asked for the address. I just hope I won’t be dinged for customs fees. The boys are over the moon with the realization that they might be able to play Runescape TOGETHER! These days, their lives revolve around Legos and Runescape. I think they’re stagnating here but know we’ll be moving on soon and opening their world a bit more. I’ve also taken to speaking a LOT more Spanish to them in the hopes that some will be absorbed if nothing else than by osmosis. It is honestly embarrasing how little they speak.
I really don’t have much to say; a long post about unschooling brewing (which reminds me to make some coffee) but I guess that I too, am so focused on being re-united after (only?) a month and a half of absence, that I can’t concentrate on anything else.
Enjoy your mother’s day, those in the US; does Canada have the same? Mexico celebrated last Wednesday (were you paying attention?)…
While we’re waiting, let’s pass the time playing a little game I call, “Will Jamie notice?”. I removed the carpeting in the trailer. Will Jamie notice? I’ve gained about 20lb not doing any type of exercise. Will Jamie notice? I had the slide exterior repaired (bodywork) that happened so very long ago; will Jamie notice? I had the van bodywork done; two enormous scrapings courtesy of parking lot maniacs; will Jamie notice?
Lastly, my PSA for the day. If you ever have the opportunity to try “Hot Nuts” DO NOT! They are peanuts covered with a chile/limon mixture that is purely addictive. The boys, Ellen and I simply Can Not leave a store without a bag. We’re now up to two large bags and one small one (for the ride home). Seriously, they must have some illegal drug in them; they are so addictive!

Happy Mothers Day
Yes, we celebrate this day in Canada like you do. It’s a beautiful day in Alberta today. The grass is finally green, the trees in leaf and even some of the flowering trees showing blossoms. Our celebration involves visits to the numerous green houses around our fine little city.
Hot Nuts, great name! We first experienced them in 1986 when visiting Oaxaca (sp?) Mexico. Margaritas at the Presidente Hotel…the best Margaritas we have ever had. The nuts were at each table ( complimentary). Wonderful experience at a great, historical building in a fantastic city. We still long for them after so many years.

Happy Mother’s Day! Oh, how I hope you have the most joyous of gifts today, the reunion of your family.
We spent today preparing our trailer for our departure this week. It hasn’t been so clean since we bought it. I guess I should take pictures.
We still anticipate crossing paths this summer. It’s destiny, you know.
Yes, even Trader Joes has something similar to Hot Nuts. You can’t stop once you start. Happy Mothers Day!

So *has* Jamie noticed?
Yeah, I would also like to know if Jamie noticed. If he is anything like my hubby, he “thought” something was different.
One thing for sure, Jamie noticed YOU, Kitty.
love, dad
Kathy……OMG, I can see again!!!!! I was about ready to bring home a microscope from my wife’s high school science lab so I could read everything (haha). THANKS soooo much for the enlargement.
John
Gord you spelled that perfectly! And you are making the flat prarie of Alberta sound quite appealing.
I hope the spring is not a trick followed by a surprise snowstorm. You must return to Oaxaca and Mexico. Send me your addy and when we return to the US I’ll send you some hot nuts.
They also have “Fire Nuts”.
Mitch it is AMAZING to see you! I forwarded to Jamie the email we get when a comment is posted so I hope he’ll get back to you. Happy flying and I’d love to see you again (as will the kids, I’m sure) when we return to CA for a bit (late fall?).
Ciodude, I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to give you a name.
I immediately thought of “John”, but that would be confusing with Mr. Hoswer, so I’ll have to call you (thinks) “macho”. A gringo producing 5 children would definitely be considered “macho” down here. here is where I sheepishly admit I ignorantly hoped for twins when pregnant with Ellen. Luckily, it neither lasted or made any difference. No, he did not notice. Not anything. But as my Dad pointed out, he did notice me.
John, I actually contemplated taking credit, but honestly, while I have racked (wracked?) my brain and looked at all the php, I could not figure out how to fix it for you. YOU did it! I’ll bet that red medicine had something to do with it.
Oops, sorry Dee Dee. No he didn’t even think “something” was different. I think if I’d painted the trailer green instead of the white it is now, he *might* have noticed that.
But I wouldn’t bet on it.
