Oh! Are going to visit Las Pozas? The park called Bañitos in the Church book, just south of Cd Valles, is pretty cool. It’s a balneario and has 3 pools fed by warm springs, not really hot. Just don’t try to take the trailer up to Xilitla or Las Pozas.
Typing from jamie’s Mac; I won’t even be able to approve the comment until Pike gets off my T30.
I’m so honored; I didn’t even know you read my mindless babble.
We’re going to the Biosphere (El Cielo) and then we’ll move to Ciudad Valles and SOLELY due to your blog (which I JUST found at Viva Veracruz), we’ll go to Las Pozas. The balneario looks lovely in your photos and we’ll definitely stay there and drive the van down to Xilitla and Las Pozas. Thank you SO MUCH for posting in your blog or we’d never have known about it. Next year you guys will have to take 126 from SLP; it looks like a GORGEOUS road (well beautiful scenery).
Can’t find 126 from SLP on my map, we took 49 from Zacatecas to SLP and then 70 to Cd Valles. They were beautiful roads (scenery) with the exception of getting around SLP, an hour circling the city through the industrial zone.
I’ve been reading your blog since I found it years ago through reading your parents blog when they had a Lazy Daze. Really started reading it more regularly when you were on the trip with them through Mexico, 2 years ago? You went some great places on that trip, I still have some of those on my ‘to go’ list.
It took a coule hours to drive to Xilitla from Bañito, probably less in a van. Still, it’s a ways. There might be closer places to boondock along the road but then you’d have to leave your rig alone.
Once you start up the mountain towards Xilitla there just aren’t many places to even pull over. I hope you like it, it is just such a surreal and incredible fantasy in such an isolated area. I’d wanted to visit it for years and now I want to go back and get the rig up there and stay for a week. I’m always nervous though when I recommend somewhere, everyone’s tastes are different. Take your camera, it’s a photographers dream.
You might not recall, Mamahops, but Jonna suggested Teacapan. Two couples from our Adventure Caravan tour are here in San Felipe, and they went to and loved Teacapan, too.
Thanks again for the recommendation, Jonna.
best, paul
PS> Don’t call my daughter’s writing “mindless babble,” Mamahops. She writes very well, and I continue to encourage her to write a book. She has neat phrases, too. I still get a kick out of “renegade mosquitoes,” and use it often.
I do hope your more in the groove now about coming into Mexico. You have got to remember harvestmoon, with your wit and funny post and adventures with the family your sort of an icon on RV net. Love your blog also, however, the picture with the kids needs to be updated as the kids have grown so dang much. Stop feeding them!!!
I like Pikey statement about needing a victim to tourture!! Typical kid!!! Love it.
Talk at ya later.
Dee
Now you must like to Jonna’s blog so I can torture myself with more beautiful Mexico photos.
Loads happening in the little town…..things that will have Bill working 3 days and off for 6. Will really free us up to be in the trailer.
Please post the link to Jonna’s blog. Thanks! C
