neighbors last day 036 knock knock knock, is this thing on?

Yeah, it’s been awhile (as I type this I don’t honestly know how long it’s been) but there really hasn’t been anything of note to report. The abaniles left, we haven’t yet decided whether or not to finish the bodega (during THE season, as opposed to after THE season) so our next foray into construction would be a carpintero. Strangely enough, one of the highly recommended carpinteros ends up being the infamous sindicato who tried to obligate us to pay in full before the construction was complete. So I’m guessing we’re not going with him.

Our wonderful neighbors, the Canadians with as many children as we have produced, squeezed their motorhome out of their palapa and headed northward. They have ambitious plans; crossing the border in 3 days and I really hope they keep us updated to let us know how they’re getting on. Their girls are beautiful beyond words; two complete opposites; a redhead and a dark haired raven with curls to rival Ellen’s. I hope she takes note as she has always disliked being the only curly headed mop in the family. I don’t think their girls ever fight and the mom and dad are so much fun to talk to and hang out with it isn’t funny. There are so many amazing and weird similarities between our families I had to ask them to stop noting them; it was freaking me out, but the really weird thing is that they are strongly Mormon. Our kids are devout atheists and I personally, have never identified “swear words” to them. Not so strangely, the words that some people define as “swear” words don’t normally escape the mouths of my kids but since the Canadian kids do not support the use of the word, “God”, my boys have been very strictly policing the words coming out of OUR mouths when their friends are around. We’re really going to miss them but anticipate putting their fridge to good use and overseeing the completion of their palapa.

This past week I’ve been scouring the country for the release of the last Harry Potter book and finally found it at Sanborn’s in Cancun. While yesterday was known as the day the “Deathly Hallows” found its way to the general population, it was also Jamie’s birthday. Unfortunately for him the day was eclipsed with the hunt for HP7 and he didn’t even get a birthday cake. Hopefully we’ll rectify that today but we are also headed to the theatre to watch “Order of the Phoenix” before the subtitled version is dropped.

And that’s about it from our boring little existance. I still haven’t figured out a title, but hopefully something will come to me when I’m picking out a picture to go with this most boring entry.

Love hearing updates from you. Happy b-day Jamie!

I have been in a blogging funk as well. I probably log on once every few days for something other than the surf report and wind conditions (which is a daily check).
