Must be something I ate…

I’ve been in bed for the last two days except for the short period of time I got about 30km south of Tulum to take donations down and help a friend in Calderitas before turning back around.  Fever, wicked stomach cramps and extreme exhaustion.  Pretty much par for the course in this petri dish we call a home.  I’m feeling slightly better tonight and promise to get those donations to work.  There is a Red Cross outpost in Mahuajal as of today and I personally would like to thank Christina M., Michelle W., Jody, Mom and Dad and Joan for their amazing contributions.  I can’t thank you enough.

    Hope you are feeling better!

We were on a cruise that docked at Costa Maya and Cozumel in Feb. 2006. We also visited the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. Do you have any information on the damage caused by Dean in those areas?

Hope you will be able to post some pictures soon.

  • You’re quite welcome, Kitty. I hope you are feeling much better very soon.

    love, dad

  • The pleaseure was mine.

so glad the monies got to you, it is weird that i still haven’t received an email confirming the transaction. oh well, as long as it got to you.

i was just at a two day yoga retreat at the land school a teacher from the yoga studio that you and i went to did all the classes. we did two hours yesterday and one hour today. i thought of you and chrissy and how the two of you would of loved it.

hope you start to feel better soon. lavendar oil has become a new aid in sickness for this house. it worked well for a stomach bug slade and i had last week.

  • The following is from the DatastormUsers.com forum:

Huricane Dean hit the Costa Maya region of Mexico as a very strog category 5. The damage is just unreal. This was never a big news story and has gotten very liitle press. Everyone was set for the storm to hit Cancun. Of course the news crews never traveled the 300 km to the south at ground zero. About 80 to 90% of the structures near the landfall were destroyed. For the most part it never made any news since the area has a lower population density. But, people are still in need of relief.

We operate a small Eco Hotel which is located about 10 km from the landfall. We are lucky to have our buildings still sanding (with damage).
Our solar panle array (22 panels) are gone and our wind turbine was destroyed and our primary generator was flooded. We are working on a Coleman Generator to charge our 24 batteries.

Our manager on site was able to restore internet service. This service is a real lifeline to the people in the area. We are currently offering our computer to provide communication for relief efforts. It is the only communication source for miles as cell phone services were also destroyed. Just to let you know that satellite internet can be a real lifeline.

  • Oh Kit,
We hope you are feeling better soon. Perhaps your body just said “Enough! You need to rest.” And there you are, in bed – and probably really not resting, but at least still.
Hopefully everyone else in the family is doing okay and we hope to hear soon that you are up and around and feeling better.
    Lots of love and hugs,
    Mom

I also, have dropped in on your amazing story. I dream of leaving the city/Dallas and moving to Paamul. What a great place and I am so thrilled to see all your photos. Keep them coming. The kids are lovely and you and your husband look so happy even with the mess you are now cleaning up. Prayers are with you. Maybe someday I can meet your crew! You are like a family member now that I have read everything you have written. Great writing skills and story telling. Your budget is really a great guide and i appreciate your honesty with it.

    Hi, Kitty and Jamie,

How are you feeling? Are you up and about?
Do you have any idea when you are coming north? I just looked at a storm that’s brewing and the computer model prdicts that it will come your way. Hopefully it will stay a tropical stormand not get to be a hurricane.

    Take care of yourselves.

    Love,

    Aunt Kathy
