What TaTa said. We have a dog (Australian Shepherd) with hair, not fur, and my highly allergic brother was not bothered by him.

So sorry about Luneta. We were at Petco the other day (buying crickets for the lizards, wonderful pets, btw) and eldest son Sam was adamant about getting another kitty (to replace Maya, terminated by a cougar.) We're at Sweetwater (your fav San Diego park) close to the county animal shelter. Maybe a trip tomorrow is in order.

When Michelle got the dog (Paris) for the family, she got a dog with HAIR, not FIR. I think they had a poodle and dogs with hair do not seem to create problems with folks who are allergic. Why not ask her about it?
PaPa and TaTa are SO VERY SORRY that the dog did not work out.

...we've been in the same position. Loved that dog and had to say good-bye.

I hope the kitty works...

My husband's test to see if he was still too-allergic to cats for us to have one, was to rub the kitten-in-question on his face. Which wouldn't have been very fun for him if indeed the kitten had caused an allergic reaction... But that does get the dander right there in your nose.

I'm sorry to hear the puppy didn't work out. It's always a tough situation when allergies get in the way of having a pet.

A cat could also cause problems. I would suggest that Jamie see if he might be allergic to the kitty before you pick one and bring it home. He can do a small test and just do some gentle petting and then NOT wash his hands. The more he goes and is just with the kitty you might want and handle her/him he should be able to tell if he might be allergic before bringing said pet home. Good luck! At least the kids can still get some doggie time by going to the shelter!

Oh, I'm so sorry. What a heartbreaking situation. I love her little name. And she's brown too - like the camp dogs in San Felipe. I hope a kitty works out better. Love to all - C
