It’s a good thing that Earth Hour starts after Prarie Home ends because Saturday would not be Saturday without our weekly dosage of Prarie Home Companion. We’re planning on heading to Jan Ten for a bonfire, fireworks and moonmallows.
I’m out of bed (and thus the posting will cease) after too many days of declining health. I picked up some stomach bug at some point and was so weak I couldn’t bear to sit because my head was too heavy. I tried amoeba meds and raw garlic, but after 3 days I was so much worse that I decided to bring out the antibiotics. I hate treating a sickness without knowing what it is but after 12 hours of antibiotics I was almost completely better. After almost 24 hours of antibiotics I’m about 95% back so I guess it was the right choice. If it were a virus, I’d expect that I wouldn’t have rebounded so quickly or completely. I hate the idea of creating superbugs but at $29MN for 3 days of antibiotics, it doesn’t pay to test (at $180MN).
This is probably terribly disjointed, but that’s what I get for posting while listening to “It’s Been a Quiet Week in Lake Wobegon, my hometown, out on the edge of the prarie…”.

Hi mamahops,
(I don’t know if I have commented here before, but I’ve been reading you for a while, so “Hi!”) I sure hope you are feeling better, the tummy bugs here are really unpleasant. I’m with you, I try my best to avoid the pills, but sometimes you’ve just got to cave in and take them for the survival of your sanity (and intestines). I made the mistake of waiting too long once and ended up in the ER extremely dehydrated. Turned out I had amoebas and salmonella at the same time. Don’t mess with the bugs! I do appreciate the pharmacy system here, once you know what meds to take, you can “self treat” and avoid the whole doctor thang.
Lots of water and gatorade and the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples, toast). Take care!

Wow! You were SICK! I can’t believe that during our adventurous 2-week visit only sis was sick one day. So at least we had that window of health. It looks like our hair is the same length now. How do you like it? Be sure to wash all those hair brushes in hot water and soap and (of course) wash all the bedding we used. I’m SO glad that you guys are louse free so far. Love
