Argh. Forcing out a post. I was in a place (last week) where I could drone on and on about nothing and it still seemed interesting to me. Today, not so much.
We’ve been doing very well at our (so far, just Jamie and my) resolution to DO SOMETHING each Sunday. Sunday is the day that Mexico takes off to enjoy as most everyone works Monday through 1/2 Saturday and only gets Sunday off. Except in tourist areas the towns shut down on Sunday (though there is always a designated farmacia open). We really celebrated Father’s Day yesterday; Jesse got up at the impossible hour of 10 A.M. and helped with Jamie’s omelette but Pike had already warned me the night before to leave him alone at that insane hour. Jesse went immediately back to bed afterwards (Happy Father’s Day!) and slept until we woke both boys at 1pm. Jamie couldn’t figure out where he wanted to go so he decided to head down to Tulum. We always have a lovely time there and the boys really look forward to the boogie boarding opportunities as our beach has absolutely zip in the way of boogie boarding (which is what makes it so nice for snorkeling).
We hit the beach around 3ish and were shocked to find a calm Tulum. We’ve never been there for calm weather but it was just as enjoyable. The low waves allowed the girls to get the first taste of boogieboarding and they had a blast! We decided to watch the sunset (behind us; never over the sea) until we realized how smart we had been in the past, leaving before dusk. Unless you were up to your neck in seawater, you were dinner. We loaded up the stuff in record time and RAN to the car but we all still left quite a bit of blood in Tulum. So now we know WHY to leave Tulum before dark. Unless the rain is falling or the wind is howling. The wind just absolutely DIED when the sun fizzled out.
Irregardless, Jamie had a lovely day of no dishes, no laundry, no dishes, no cooking and now has 3 days worth of dinners prepared (Thai pork, lasagne, stew). It was what I had wanted when I was in charge of all that stuff.
Ellen asked me when Spanish day would be and as a favor to Jamie, on Father’s day, it wasn’t yesterday. But it will be today. She really seems to enjoy Spanish day.
Ack! I just realized that the Flickr bar is not displayed in this theme. I’ll have to add it. I’ve changed all the headers and now need to work on the pages (you get errors on Archives and About). Maybe I’ll try to put Flickr up there instead of the sidebar. Well, someday…
For now, Flickr here.

I’m (finally) going through my photos from our visit last March in preparation for putting photo pages together and I MISS JAN TEN SO MUCH!! And you guys and H.C. Monterey and fresh tortillas and you guys and the ruins and everything. Maybe $600 per ticket isn’t such a lot to ask…. Sigh. Love, C
