I have a soft place in my heart for Haiti....Quinn's ortho doc goes there numerous times each year to volunteer and surgically correct clubfoot in Haiti's children.

When Quinn was born, and we realized the severity of his clubfoot, I remember the clinic telling me "Your child will walk. Dr. W. goes to Haiti, and the children walk down from the mountains on the tops of their feet, the clubfoot impairments are so severe, and he is able to fix their feet and allow them to walk normally".

Lambi fund looks wonderful. Thanks for the link. Off to donate.

That video of a wave hitting a 5 story building in Cuba, hitting it above the 4th floor, was amazing. Stunning. We've watched it over and over.

Aw. Thank you! I am glad to hear the worst is past for you. This is one huge storm. It is rivaling Carla from way back.

We are safe with the kids inland. We finally have confirmed that all family members are off the island as of a couple hours ago. The west end of Galveston is under water, and it looks like the Seawall will not be tall enough to prevent the surge from flowing over it and down onto the island. It is bad, bad, bad. All of Bill's family is behind the wall, so if the the wall can't hold the sea back, they will all lose their homes to the flooding. (sigh)

If the surge is high where we are, we might lose the boat and the trailer, but right now it is looking so very much better than Wednesdays outlook did. Winds will be up toward 50 mph and gusting higher where we live.....IF Ike turns. I am still not convince it will turn due north.

Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and love. We are so grateful for your love and friendship, Hopcias!!

I've been looking for you at the WTM boards and am glad to get an update here today. I saw the bands go over you on the news and wondered how you all fared. Glad to see you are ok. I'll be praying for you and your neighbors.
