colegio, secudaria, prepa, ugh.

So, the school I thought Ellen would absolutely ADORE (remember, SHE is driving this train, really, really, really WANTING to go to school) is apparently too “fun” looking and not “strict” enough.  She wants a school like Bart and Lisa’s on Los Simpson.  Ugh.  Ak Lu’um is a LOVELY Waldorf school and Sissy sounds pretty sold on it so maybe she’ll like it there.  Hell, *I* liked it and I’m not even of school age.  It is VERY Waldorfy and natury and musicy and organicy and all things Waldorf.  Oh, and apparently the idea that she does NOT have to wear a uniform is a negative, not a positive.  Where does this girl COME from?

There is another Waldorf school in town, Colegio Papalote, and that might fit Ellen better.  There is a LOT more English spoken at Ak Lu’um so I don’t know how she’ll do somewhere else.  The boys are taking Spanish in the evenings in town but with all the sports at Colegio Mayaland, I’m going to have to see if there is any chance they can at a minimum participate in sports.

So tomorrow we get up at the butt crack of dawn (seriously, if I’m going to get my run in, I have to get up at 5am) and Ellen and Sissy head off to Ak Lu’um to check it out.  Ellen wants me there at least in the morning, so I’ll be sitting outside the classroom (you KNOW I’ll have my camera) and hoping I don’t have to miss Mexico vs. Uruguay because then, well, pretty much I’d have to shoot myself.

BOO!!! I posted AGAIN!!!

  • I had to laugh, we used to say that my middle daughter must have been mixed up with some Republican banker’s daughter at the hospital, because being my kid made her so unhappy. She complained because I (in her words)used to force her to dress up in costume and go to RenFaire…just goes to show that we have less influence than we think on our kids.

  • Oh Kit!
Aren’t kids the best things ever? Always full of surprises and wonders at where they came from, and how come they are the way they are when they are all raised and loved alike?
You teach them to think for themselves, and by damn they do!!!
Enjoy this new phase with them all!

Lots of love and gentle hugs!
